Re: David Allen aka Dallen Obituary

I'm one of the rum drinkers here. I usually drink Botran from Guatemala, which is just next door to me here in southern Mexico. I buy it from Amazom Mexico, delivered to my door by DHL. It's funny about grieving. I found myself grieving about the loss of Dave. He was the heart and soul of something ...

Re: cataracts

It's worse Jerry; that remaining eye seems able to see my most covert moves. Fortunately she is a great wife.

Re: cataracts

Thanks guys. Losing an eye is bad, but she still has one, and a slim chance that the bad one will recover.

cataracts

My wife had cataract surgery on one eye a year ago and it went well. She had the other eye done last month and it got infected. She is now blind in that eye, most likely forever. I have a mild cataract in one eye and had been thinking about having it done. Now I don't think so. Not until it gets a ...

Re: a mini lathe

I have found something that looks promising. It is not Chinese. http://sjames.users.sonic.net//shop-stuff/lathes/sherline.jpg They have an impressive catalog, a great number of instructional videos, and a good manual. The basic eight inch model costs $624 USD and the seventeen inch model costs $728....

a mini lathe

I have been shopping for a mini lathe, 5 x 12 inch or thereabouts. All I can find are the Unimat, made in Austria, (tiny) and numerous iterations of what look like the same Chinese junk with different labels The Unimat gets mixed reviews from machinists, and the Chinese junk is just that: Chinese jun...

notes from the insane asylum

It must make sense to someone. The politicians here have decided to close the beaches and prohibit the sale of alcohol until the end of August. As if that will prevent the spread of covid. We are having a little flash epidemic here. I am not sure what drinking or swimming in the ocean have to do wit...

Re: Checkin' in

I had never heard of Arduino. I am beginning to study the tutorial I found on the web. Sounds ideal for my use in the kiln.

If any of you can suggest places to look and steps to take, I am all ears.
