Re: The Home Foundry

It's been going on for quite a while now. A matter of weeks now, not just days. Does anyone have an e-mail address for David F? I have lived through one disappearing forum owner when I was the administrator for Alloy Avenue. Lionel just evaporated. If David F is tired of it, or if he is sick or has ...

Re: New toy in the woodlot

Manufacturing, like mining and seafaring, is not safe. To attempt to make it so would increase the cost to the point where all of the manufacturing and ships would go to other countries. Oh wait! I almost forgot. That has already happened. An old boat-builder I used to follow wrote about his days in...

Re: New toy in the woodlot

Planers and band-saws. I once owned a boatyard on the Chesapeake Bay where I built wooden boats. We had a Fay and Egan 311 Lightning band-saw exactly like this: http://sjames.users.sonic.net/misc./311_Lightning-2.jpg and a 26 inch Fay and Egan planer. It weighed as much as a small car. I poured new ...

Re: cataracts

I used an ophthalmologist I know well and I trust. My wife used a local woman doctor, mostly because she was a woman. (My wife votes for the woman candidates regardless of their politics.) I warned her that the woman doctor was a bloofburger. One of those highly educated and intelligent people who c...

The Home Foundry

Does anyone know what is going on with David F and The Home Foundry. It seems to have been down for quite a few days now.

Re: cataracts

My right eye got to where I could no longer see where my golf ball landed. (There are inconveniences in life, and then there are problems----that was a problem.) I am fortunate to have a close friend who is an ophthalmologist. He has his own clinic with an operating room. The most amazing thing is h...

Re: It's Eclipse Day Finally

I am way south of it.

My former wife has traveled from Virginia all the way to western Kentucky. You'd think she would have something better to do with her time than to drive for hours to watch the moon pass in front of the sun.

Re: Midget White Turkey

Your posts are very interesting. I guess you don't get much response from us because we don't know what to say. this is something I know so little about i can't even think of questions to ask.

Anyway, keep it up. It is fascinating.

Re: Registration Closed again

Someone clue me in. I fail to see the point of spam. Surely no one reads it, so why bother to post it? Unless, of course, you're insane. Insane people do insane things.

Re: End of Summer...

Does that ring fit your finger?
It was made to fit a finger about 22 inches in diameter. Sometimes when I am trying to screw tiny nuts onto tiny bolts I think mine are that size.
