Re: My Hand Planes
Well, the carving/spoon planes that I was making the chisels to do, I was sitting there looking at the screen the one day and it occurred to me that it would be easier to just hammer those out than to try to make the patterns and cast it out, lol. Screenshot at 2024-04-20 00-34-33.png I was wanting ...

Re: Patterns for Baker Ball Hopper Monitor
I posted something on here a while back I think of using card scrapers for woodworking for smoothing out 3d prints, which is alot faster than doing it with sanding really, and you get alot better finish too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4e9JJkinvk Cool engine, since youve moved on from the O&...

Re: My Hand Planes
Really, I just want to make my life easier for making patterns with, so Ive been making up these planes, but even if I dont use them, I know some of them are quite expensive to buy, so I can always turn around and sell them if something comes up and I need the money. So Ive been looking at them as b...

Re: My Hand Planes
It's hard to say how long it really took to make the planes tbh. I know the miter planes, it probably took 15 mins to bend them around the form and get them squared up and such since the forge was already hot, took maybe an hour at the mill to rough out the dovetails on both of them, 3-4 hours of fi...

Re: Old Engine or Something
yea, that's an old oil field engine. They have quite a few of those old ones around here like that, some even are still in use today. They're also called hot pipe engines, which were pretty much a diesel engine, but would also run on natural gas. The front has a flame which gets the pipe really hot ...

Re: My Hand Planes
I did manage to get out to the shop today and finish grinding and machining the parts for the side planes done up using the shaper, all that's really left is to just do a little filing on the bed seats of the planes, but that wont take long, and need to heat treat the blades still. 20240419_211015.j...
