Pool Shock
It's been discussed on another forum about using "Pool Shock" as a de-gasser for aluminum. The most concern mentioned about this product is that it has a tendency to attract and hold water. My questions: Is this water molecularly held? Or can it be driven off before use with some heat? Tha...

Re: Molding sand grain size
What are these millimeters you speak of! That's not a real measuring system!
Just kidding.
Here's an even better site with info on this mysterious "Mesh" measuring system:

Re: Band saws
So based on the two models you show, you are only cutting wood? The first model looks to be a lot more heavy duty than the second (ryobi). Do you have to buy a new one? You will always get a lot more machine if you buy it used.

Re: Happy Birthdays!
So you could say it is a throw away part unless you plan on making a lot of engines the same. :o With all that nice work I would be hanging it on the wall after it has been used :P Holy Cow! That would be one hell of a nail! Personally, I'm only going to use it on a few engines. There doesn't...

Re: Happy Birthdays!
The idea goes way back to the late 40's and early 50's when manufactures started to make blocks thinner to save on manufacturing costs. They noticed with the thinner, lighter blocks that when a set of cylinder heads where bolted and torqued down, the stress of the head bolts placed around the cylind...

Re: Happy Birthdays!
Man, when I first looked at the first pic I thought it was a plank of wood you where cutting  that is a big bit of steel you have there. How heavy was it before you cut the holes in it ? The material is about 56 pounds per foot, and I loaded a 40" long piece into the saw. I cut off abou...

Re: Happy Birthdays!
Thanks Guys! It was a great day. 8-) I spent some of it getting some more progress on a torque plate I'm making for an engine project. The plate will fit a 1957 392 Chrysler Hemi engine. Rough cutting to length a bar of 2" by 8" hot rolled A36: http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/pp161/davb...

Well, all I can say is I don't know how you forum admis do it. It takes a LOT of patience and perseverance to deal with these jokers. I guess if the world didn't have so many clever bottom feeders, we wouldn't need to worry about this kind of stuff.
Thanks for all your hard work Harry!

Re: Electric Furnace Build
If you live in an area where the electricity is cheap, then I imagine it's a great way to go.
All the electricity around here is generated with fossil fuel....
