Re: Tips for using the forum

Well, I have given up posting here since everytime I do it goes to the moderator for oversight review first. I posted an answer to a question on CO2 core making on the 13 th of April and it never got posted, maybe it was found to be out of line and I'm just being blocked? So goodbye and good luck. Bob

Re: co2 extinguishers

I should add that I just tap the control valve to release a small amount of CO2 into the regulator which keeps the pressure low at this point. This regulator's gauge only reads to 50# on the output side and now is set to 3# pressure so I didn't want to blow the diaphragm by tying open the valve. I'm...

Re: Zebra Clutch cover

I would try pouring it inverted, letters facing down, and have a riser at the opposite end from the sprue to allow a good vent. I always try and pour with the good side down since that's the side that usually produces has the best finish anyway. Your sand should have enough green strength to allow d...

Re: Business failure

I have seen your plaques so I know you have the skills it's just the product. You probably have seen my odd collection of items I reproduced in castings. I have jobs I can't get to now. You just have to look for the items that have market. I just completed 3 different old car plaques for locals that...

Re: Degassing Tablets

I wonder if you need to find the cause before you get a cure. You and I have similar set ups with using good aluminum and petrobond sand. So why is it you have gas porosity and I don't. I gave up using degassing pellets years back mainly because of my enclosed set up and didn't want to deal with the...

Re: Aluminum Flask

Ok I got a modified pattern, hopefully I'll get a chance to pour it today and we'll see if the pin lug/handle will cast as and integral part of the pattern side. thats a heck of and idea for pattern material using clap board siding Bob, if a person was to use some of the imitation stuff thats made ...

Re: Aluminum Flask

with the taper that you have on the side of your flask how do you keep the sand from falling out when you flip?, hold a board on it? Bob on yours did you gate from the inside to pour it? The taper was a concern to start with since the only lip on the flask was on the wrong side. I had planned to we...

Re: Aluminum Flask

You need some lips on the inside to keep the sand from dropping out when you move the flask or flip it. I would also make larger aligning pin lugs so the pin holes can easily drilled and the pins mounted. Here's how the 4"X10"X12"ones look that I cast which were cast as a one piece se...

Re: Storage Wars

I have reproduced several early pieces for collectors in many different fields. Hood ornaments have been one of my major areas. Like this one. I purchased an original then copied it in every major detail except it was originally a die cast casting in pot metal and mine was sand cast in aluminum. I m...

Re: Lil Scrapper

The OSB I picked up yesterday will be going on that back wall. Since the radiant heat from your furnaces and the crucibles when pulled are going to be pretty hard on your OSB wall over time. I would recommend placing some 5/8" fire proof drywall over it. I did in my foundry but I still had the...
