Wow. I read every word of that. I will start with the burner of course, but I'd like to see yellow heat again. Haven't gotten out to the furnace in a bit.
I guess the best thing about this burner is that it should let me get out to the foundry more often since I won't require 4 hours at a time.

Re: Bill's Burner
Thanks for the tip FC. I will look into machining some other pieces for the tube.
Do you think that rounding the square ends of the nozzle would do anything?

Re: Bill's Burner
I can run this on waste oil too. I will just have a valve that shuts off the kero and another to pipe in wvo. I tried to start it with just waste oil, but it wouldn't light. If I cut some spirals into the end of the steel piece, it might improve atomization even more. Then waste oil might light. Doe...

Bill's Burner
I have't been here in a while! School eats time. Yesterday, I finished making a very nice siphon nozzle. I effectively copied a hago nozzle. The main difference is that this burner only has two parts- a central core and the outer housing. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GVug_kakvf0/UJ72e2UaunI/AAAAAAAAAao...

Re: Winter's coming :(
Casting season is tricky to define for me in SJ. The summer is hot, but worst of all, so humid, its like your swimming. Fall is great temperatures, but school starts and I can't appear to be working on foundry things too often. Winter isn't too bad if the sand doesn't freeze.. The only problem can b...

Shoooooot! That is a nasty picture! Pretty hardcore to stop and say "wait, get the camera first!"

Re: near disaster averted
That would be nasty. Even worse if they broke while holding the pot!
Isn't rebar sort of nasty to make things out of? I've never used it. Most of my steel comes from either 3/8 wide lightning rod, which I can get tons of for dirt cheap, or the axles form those motorized kids cars.

Re: Big Storm
I got hit by it, but the winds they predicted were really OVERBLOWN. (get it har har har) The biggest thing was the rain. We got loads of it. We faired well, but my house is high up in the area. The people who lived in lower areas had major flooding, especially up in north jersey
Thanks

Re: An inexpensive yet versatile molding bench
That's a great idea. I use an enormous rubber made box. It only holds 200lbs or so.
