Re: My Hand Planes
Oh yea, underneath of the blade is made of wood, with the blade in place, it's hard to see unless you look for it. It absorbs the vibrations of the cut and makes for a much better hold on the blade than metal on metal. This was before the bridge was put in and pickled in the vinegar. 20240128_224149...

Re: My Hand Planes
After cleaning all of that up, getting it all squared up and such, I started on the infill, which I had some very very old mahogany that Ive been saving forever that I decided to use for it. I stuck all of the steel parts in a container with cleaning vinegar for a day or two, and the mill scale just...

Re: My Hand Planes
After that, all of the dovetails were peened over and ground flat on the belt grinder, which the peening over made any imperfections or gaps in the dovetails dissappear and the joint became seamless between the two. You cant really even see it unless you look at it just right under the light, the li...

Re: My Hand Planes
Well, Ive still been messing around with my planes, but I figured I'd show my latest one, lol. I decided to go from easy and medium difficulty to completely insane on this one, lol. It's a dovetailed steel low angle english miter plane. I doodled it up to see what I wanted, which took a few tries to...

Re: I'm all discombobulated...
Yea, Im sure, I dont need anything, but if anyone needs anything doodled up in freecad, just let me know. It really doesnt take long to doodle stuff up as long as I know what I need, lol. Ive always gone by cae on older forums, but most people really just know me as chirp or chirpy because of my nic...

Re: I'm all discombobulated...
oh, give me a second and Ill modify it so the ends are 1/2" thick then. All done, here's the new freecad file and STL file, ends are 1/2" thick, middle is a little thicker as you wanted it. And you really dont owe me anything, it only took a few mins at most to doodle up anyhow and I just ...

Re: I'm all discombobulated...
yea, that one's really simple, did you want draft on it in any direction or any other stuff done to it? To change the thickness of it, just double click on "pad", and you can change that there. Everything is symmetric to center line, so you should be able to change the dimensions to whatev...

Re: I'm all discombobulated...
Oh, what part do you need doodled up in freecad? I know the basics enough to make about any pattern I would need in freecad, but I can always doodle up what you need as long as it's not too insanely complicated, lol.

Re: I'm all discombobulated...
That sucks to hear latz, I go through that twice a year here, and it really messes with you. I dont do cnc stuff, but there's one guy on the one discord server Im on that designed his own CAM software and everyone that's tried it seems to swear by it. He's always doing work on it and adding new feat...
