Re: Petro Bond Mix 7 of 9
Okay Jerry, good so far. Now what are you planning to cast in that nice new sand? The only sand casting I have done was my first pour ever. I made a Gingery charcoal furnace back in about 1999 and melted aluminum beer cans. I poured a wine cup. I haven't melted aluminum since. Since then it has been...

Re: Skillets to cook in
Those old ones were nice to cook with. The new ones you can buy now are a bit rough. Probably made for city folks to decorate their kitchens.

Re: Back to the foundry
Okay guys. It's time to get back to work. I know you're getting old, but I am probably out in front on that front. I turn eighty in August. Let's have some casting going on. Regarding beer. Harry wrote about Heineken: "The ole skunky beer in the green bottle." It always had a bit of a skun...

Re: Hi I'm Harry
That looks like a good dog, Harry. I'm at the age where I should maybe measure my time in months instead of years. Still no signs of an imminent end though. We are in the "oven" month here. May is our hottest, driest, but very humid month. At 4 am the outside air is 85 F. (30 C. of those o...

Re: Spitballin
I find your posts fascinating Harry. I am not much interested in gardening, although I seem to have a green thumb and can make plants grow and thrive. I'm kind of like old Henry Ford. He grew up on a farm, but all he wanted to do was work on the tractor. Still, your posts about gardening are interes...

Re: Spitballin
The thing I love most about this forum is how we have become a group of friends, and everyone else has gone away. It's like a group of guys who, over the years, meet at the pub or the club and play cards and drink beer and share stuff with each other. The way we used to do before the internet and vi...

Re: Back to the foundry
I used to brew beer when I was in high school back in the 1950's in one gallon glass Coke jugs. I sold it to my friends. It wasn't very good, but it was strong. I used canned Blue Ribbon brand malt. Coke jugs were free for the asking. Every drug store had a soda fountain back then and always had a t...

Re: Back to the foundry
Why not? Stella is a good name for her. The name of the piece is "Caught in the Act." Stella is my regular beer nowadays. I remember when American beer had some real flavor, back in the 1950's when I first started drinking beer, but now it's watered down and almost tasteless. Mexican beer ...

Re: Back to the foundry
To make the reeds/grasses I used short pieces of copper water pipe and copper wire.
