Post text lost when submitting

Post by Harry »

This has come up in a few different threads so here is a thread to let me know if this is happening to you. I found this thread on phpbb.com discussing this issue. If it continues to be a problem that shows need of addressing I will see about installing a mod for it. May even get around to doing it anyhow. Usually these mods will have level of difficulty in the description but this one does not so I dont know if it is even within the range of my capabilities.

Two things to keep in mind, if you write out a long post copy it to the clipboard by highlighting with the mouse, right click and choose copy. The post will be in the clipboard on your computer until you copy something else by doing this. Second, if something goes wonky try using the browsers back button. Most every time I lose a post I get it back just doing this.

I really dont like folks losing a post. I know it takes a concerted effort to compose a post especially the long ones that seem to be the prime target for getting zonked so I want to hear about it if it is happening with any kind of frequency and if the above methods of preventing it are not adequate for the forum users.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints the sinners are much more fun...

also I would like to add, If you regularly click the preview button you will be able to salvage most of your post by clicking the back button even if the text box is empty you should be able to copy and paste most of your post back into existence..
