I dont think the people are posting from ukrane, I think they're from russia really, but using proxy servers to make them appear as if they're in ukrane, you can tell that by the .ru links that they've been spamming. Ive done the same before when I was trying to get into a site that was only accessable from within the UK or from within japan, but you set up the proxy connection on your computer and it transmits the data to a server over there, and it sends it out from there, so when the site looks at the data, it looks like it came from that proxy server over there and makes you appear as if youre from over there.

Thanks harry and jammer, I wont let you guys down. We heat our house with firewood and our woodburner, you cant bank it, so Im up every 3 hours around the clock to throw logs in it, so I tend to just stay up at nights during the winter and let someone else take care of it during the day if they're home. So Im usually up when the spammers come in and start doing that, which is usually around 5-7am here.

I think it might not be the bottom line, it might be a war of information, and when you constantly get spammed by a certain location, you usually just block that location from access, so it might be that they're going around and attacking everywhere they can to be an annoyance, and when they get the location blocked, the people who might want to join might not be able to. I really cant see anyone from over there really joining on here anytime soon, but that's what it seems like what's going on to me anyways. It might also be trying to spam as much as it can on so many different sites that even google or other search engines count the sites as spam sites and cuts linking to it too so others cant gain access to it. So promote thier crap while restricting access, that's just my theory tho.

I was just telling a guy the other day that had done some welding work for me that my Wife has never really even balked at tool purchases, even when they were very expensive tools because she has always been able to realize the benefits that come from them. My next tool is probably going to be a Mud Mixer.

Fortunately for me my Wife is both understanding and has her own interests that often cross over into mine. Her latest obsession is an XTool sort of laser, not necessarily that brand but those capabilities of cutting up to 1/2" wood or 3/4" polycarbonate. She is also keen to all other sorts of cnc machines like water and plasma cutters, mills/lathes ect... After we build our house a big nice shop will be on order.

We still have a few years to go but are headed in a great direction for when she retires. The property is growing in nicely and my woodlot has proven itself over and over, The animal husbandry stuff is always expanding along with our knowledge.

Someone clue me in. I fail to see the point of spam. Surely no one reads it, so why bother to post it? Unless, of course, you're insane. Insane people do insane things.

They come in from all over the world, well, who knows where they are because they came up with this hide your location with the virtual network. I think the spammers love that feature. Then they advertise everything from bootleg movies to dating sites or porn disguised as a dating site. I don't know cause I don't click on any. Not sure why they think if you won't read one post, surely you'll read 75 of the same post. I've deleted so much crap since the first of the year it's crazy. Blocked over 100 "New Members" with bogus e-mails or an IP address in the Ukraine or Lithuania. I apologize if I deleted some legit member, if that's you, contact admin to request entry.
But, in short, yes, I think they are Insane.

Its cheap so the one in a million approach can be profitable, couple that with the low incomes of many other countries and one score can be a years wages easily so these scam farms pay people to run scams.

Responding to any of them is a knock knock, oh you are there... a verified email is worth much more than a scraped one so a response just puts you on a higher dollar list.

As far as the sanity of those representing the Nigerian Prince who just needs a little help moving some money around, I dont know. They are certainly criminal and my WAG would be they are also not too bright or else they could find more meaningful and rewarding ways to use their time on this rock.

As for registration, I still have not had time to sit down with this to dig into the options. As Jerry said though if a legit person wishes to participate here they can contact an admin to facilitate their admission.

Looks like the registration has been open for about a week with no one trying to register. Maybe the Admin verification step has stopped them for now. The new ones can't post until an Admin approves their registration.

The ACP panel says there's an update for phpbb software. Not sure what's that's about, I'm not comfortable doing anything with that.
