specially when the weather is cool enough to enjoy it.
I found a new slicer program called Craftware that's a free download, I'm really liking the way it works. I printed this part yesterday and it came out almost perfect, anyway it came out usable where before when I printed it I got trash parts.
and with one of the other programs it took 4 hours to print this same file, yesterday with the new program it only tool like an hour and a half, so I'm pretty happy with it.
I'm going to reprint the spin vane that I drew up as a test to see how well it will handle a much more complex file, I know the software when I sliced it said that it would take less then two hours to print, versus the almost 5 hours of the first print.
I had to cut the points off of the vanes when I printed it the first time as I wasn't able to get the program to create support under the tips so the part ended up with a flat end.
here is a screen capture of what I hope to print today, nice thing is that I can watch the print and if in the first few layers the print isn't working I can kill it and try to figure out what I did wrong.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I'm getting there, I like this Craftware program a lot better then Slic3r or Cura, anyway it's making my life easier. Had a guy gift me two rolls of ABS so I'm in the process of rounding up the hot end parts to swap out so that I can use the filament I'm wanting to try the Acetone Vapor smoothing and see how it will work for smoothing casting patterns with.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
ok I got out in the heat and fired up the furnace for a couple parts that needed making.
these were molded off of a couple patterns that I printed on my 3D printer. This is another pattern that I printed today depending on the how things go I may pour it tomorrow

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
been putting in the hours on the cad program trying to learn how to cheap by tracing images of parts that I want to make drawings so I can print them as patterns for casting,
here's an example of what I have been up to the last couple of days, it took me a while but I finally got it so it doesn't beg to be chopped up into scrap because of all the errors I had in the drawing.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Are you going to do it in plastic? And, does the small lettering come out in the plastic? Looks really good. Ready for lost wax.
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I haven't really thought about printing it, the lettering will print depending on the font as to how well it will turn out on stuff. the problem with little fonts is when you invest it that there isn't any air bubbles, or trash in the lettering which can mess it up.
This was really more of an exercise in using some new functions in the cad program and an overall brushing the dust off of what I already know how to do, if I don't work with the program fairly regularly it get rusty.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
been trying to make some pattern for a guy that I know.
the parts aren't exact copies but should be close enough to work for him.
