I didn't do any on the parts in the last post, I did try to mold up the new pulley pattern that will replace the one on the transmission but had some setbacks with it. So I decided to pour the aluminum part in the last post again this time in Cast Iron just incase I like it when I get this one finsihed i can re do it in Iron.

heres a photo of the Cast Iron one I did today, its a little rough but I did the majority of the clean up with the file you see in the photo laying on the back of the vise.

and as you can tell I got a lot of help from the live in help

got a little done on the new ratchet pawl this evening here's a couple of photos

I'm making this one big and heavy so that it will have a more positive action hopefully, the first one I did I used a half inch diameter pin which left a lot to be desired in the way it worked.

My fuel tank is a bit smaller then that, its an old compressor tank that holds about 6 gallons and I pressurize it to 2 bar to force the fuel out

That pawl looks pretty hefty, should hold up pretty well. You should be sending all these picture to Cincinnati Milacron, but then they would steal your improvements.
I love the oil tanks, I hope I can work on my oil burner soon. I got so aggravated with it I put it up before I smashed it, That was a couple years ago.

the aluminum part is actually a bit shorter then the other one, the part that will engage the gear is only and a 1/4" bigger in diameter so in all its not really not bigger. I think the brass part is what makes it look so much larger in the photo.

I received some photos last night of the original part on the shaper in Fairbanks AK its totally different then this so guess I'll stop on this an see if I can figure out what I need to do to get one close to the original one.

this is what the original looks like

A lot different then what I been trying to do.

Hey david, had you seen this?

http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=3656 It's a PDF manual for an older Shaper or you can buy a manual from Cinn/milicron for $98. :P
