The sand is the finest that I could find at 80 mesh, this is the supplier
http://www.riversideindustrialsands.com ... ndry-sand/ . The white bits are new molding sand that I made a few weeks back. the mix is 10 % bentnite and two % corn flour, next batch that I make I'll do your mix 5% bentnite and 5 % corn flour
What a useless fucked up day to day was, I had to do a days training at work today, 7 hour of useless shit that big business try to ram down your throat, just to give them a warm fuzzy feeling

I'm hoping to get a start on this soon, I have everything ready but its been damn hot here, and every time I suggest to the wife that I'm going to do some casting she starts going on about the heat and at my age I should be more careful, it's 10 am and its 38 c already( 100.4f,for the people that don't understand the simpler modern measuring system
)

understand that 165 C equals about 300 F or it used to when I worked on asphalt plants.

Short answer Dave no, its been very hot here, so all casting is on hold till the weather cool and the humidity drops.....I've made the flasks and they are going to be very heavy full of packed sand, so I'll also need to find a way to handle them

I remember the year we had 100 plus temps for like almost three months,
me I would be wanting the weather to cool and the humidity to go up as in rain so the fire danger will drop like a rock in a barrel of water.
rig you up some sort of lift, I made me a swing arm with a boat wench on it so as to handle large flasks and curcibles if need be like the flat belt pulley that I made last fall. that whole mold weighted well over 300 pounds.
