Looks great Mike, I thought the inside of the letters would be more of a problem. Just looks like the e's are the only ones that need opening up.

Thanks everyone.... Yes its only the e's that I'm having issues with Jerry. I'll cast another one next week and before I do anything with the casting I'll Try and open the inside of the e's a bit

Tried to cast the coaster today but it was a short pour, I tried dropping the casting temp by about 20deg c , it obviously didn't work , the e's are still a problem tho

Also tried my first lost wax casting, a rather simple lotus flower

the E's you may have to use a die grinder on to open them up, the center looks to small for the sand to get into.

the lotus looks good, you may want to use some type of spray to keep air bubbles from sticking when you invest it, looks like in between the petals that theres little bubbles that were filled with metal.

You have any way of checking the temp on your bronze so that you know how hot/cold your pouring+???

Yes, just grind a little spot in the e's on the casting so it will take the patina. The lotus flower looks great, you can knock off those little bubbles and buff it all out.

Do Redheads and Brunettes get different types of matches? I can understand if Blonds aren't alowed to have matches. :P

A good way too eliminate bubbles is to mix a solution of either ethylene glycol (anti freeze) or propylene glycol (dishwasher anti-waterspot stuff) and water at maybe five water to one glycol. Brush that on the wax. The investment will flow on nicely.

Hi Dave, I have this unit for measuring the temperature. with the e's I have a dremal and will give then a try today. Mate will be around today and he needs some casting done so it will all depend on how long he's here for

Hi Richard. I'll give that a try

That's never good mike, take it easy and heal up.

I guess my laptop is dead, I think I'll order one or look for a cheap replacement. Hopefully I can get one up and running soon. I'm about to go nuts!
