A new "New Girl"

Post by Rasper »

Bronze casting is imminent. The New Girl has been named. Her name is Zuline. She is waiting in the wax tub to be cast, but firing up the large furnace and handling the #30 crucible somehow doesn't move me right now. Here's a new "New Girl" I think I can squeak by with my #8 crucible. (I wish I had settled on a number 10 and a number 20, but it's too late to change now. The #8 is a bit too small, and the #30 is a bit to large.)

She's not ready yet, but I do have to stop before I overwork her.

She's about 12 or maybe 15 inches tall.

I have changed her some. And I will show some other things that I have been working on.

Anubis was the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld. This head is about the size of the head of a large dog.

I have always liked working with clay but I'm seldom happy with the result. I sure don't have your talent. I have trouble figuring out just what is wrong, I just know it's not right.

For me, it takes an enormous amount of time. I try things and let it sit for a while, and then come back to it with a fresh eye and make some changes. Then I try other things, until I get to a point where I know I am on to something.

I suppose there are people who can just slap something together in a day or two and have it be great, but I don't know any of them.

Just a 1/10 of the skill of Frank or Richard would do me, it amazes me what they can do with clay or wax :) :) :) :)
