What are those protrusions through the plaster for?
Steel tabs to hold it together. I cut up those steel studs the construction guys use for cheapo office buildings. It's the perfect thickness.
This should explain them:

Ahhhhhh.... I didn't see a parting line in the photo prior. Now it makes sense. I also would have made that mold differently which is why I wasn't see'n the process you had going on. Potato, potahto... as it were.
I'm anxious to see this get waxed and cast.

I made a quick test wax of her face today. Obviously I didn't clean the mold before I poured the wax in..
I need to do a little trimming inside the mold so I can get it off of her forefinger without breaking it off, and I will need to do some dental work, but I am quite happy with it.

She is progressing:
I poured wax into the mold yesterday. I am in the process of breaking it out now. We will soon see if it's any good.

The wax is out.
I broke her head off, which is okay, but I think it is a little too thin, so I will pour another wax.
I want it to be about 3/16 of an inch thick (5 mm); this is more like 1/8 (3.2 mm).
