I'd wager the American company bought that foundry solely as a write off and to eliminate them as a competitor. They don't buy companies without strict contracts to keep them from popping back up under a different name afterward. They also don't buy entire companies like this without first knowing if it is in their best interest to do so... i.e., they did look into that foundry's finances. If they were profitable, then they stood in the way as competition in that region... if they were not profitable then the American company saw opportunity to dump a crapload of money into purchasing the business then turn around and close it as a loss (tax write off). I've seen this done here in the US, too... these big whig corporations don't give an ounce of thought toward any of the people they effect with their greedy manipulation of their inholdings.

I would recommend the people who lost their jobs ban together and form their own company (as a co-op) giving each and every swinging dick among 'em a voice and vote in the direction that affects their futures from here on out. They can rise on their own without fear of ESO standing in their way... and this would be a good lesson for them in the long run to not allow any one entity to own sole rights to their future wage earning potential.
