Winter's coming :(

A depressing sight at work today, the maintenance crews pulled the snow blowers out of storage today, they were out on the tarmac getting cleaned and prepped for the upcoming season.

While I prefer the warmer months the way I am set up now I dont so much mind winter any more. Of course your winter and my winter are two very different things.

When I first saw them, I thought, "bit early for that isn't it", last winter we didn't get any significant snowfall until early January but then I remembered it was only 3 or 4 years ago that Fort Erie, Ontario (about 50 miles from work, 30 from home) got over a foot of snow in mid October, iirc on the 13th.
Edit: I just checked, that snow storm in Fort Erie was October 12th 2006 so, 5 years ago

It's cooling down enough I can almost stand to melt during the day, cant wait for honest FLorida winter so I can really use the furnace without worrying about dehydration

I appear to be phasing myself out of California, Harry. I have only spent two months there, May and June, since last Thanksgiving. I signed a six month lease on my apartment today instead of a year. I am questioning the expense, given I use it so seldom. The trouble is I have a great sculpture workshop up there that I really love. To bring all of that equipment down here would be a huge undertaking. We will see.
I do envy some of you all with your good casting weather. All I have here is hot, and very hot. It's a constant battle against heat exhaustion in the foundry. Sometimes I lose.

Richard, it gets hot here too but I have set up the foundry well for this. With the big swamp cooler and the roof the foundry is semi enclosed so the cool air travels through and leaves with the fumes. This keeps the area quite comfortable in the summer. Winter is another story though, last winter I used a torpedo heater under the molding bench. This kept my toes warm where I spend most of my time standing but the thing is I still need the fans going which can make it pretty uncomfortable on the coldest of days.

Oooh, it's too hot to cast boo hoo, try casting in this!
BTW Mike, this is snow. This picture was taken at my sister's house, early December a few years ago.
