Christmas Break

Post by mite5255 »

I'm now on Christmas break for about 28 days, problem is I think I've done something to my shoulder that I just had operated on, I have been using that arm quite a bit of late and I think I may have to slow down some

Don't mess it up again!! It's hard to stop working the same way you used to, when you start having problems you have to start working smarter. Truth is, we should have been working smarter our whole life, then maybe we wouldn't be in the shape we're in.
I should get one of those T-shirts.... If I had known I was going to live so long, I would have taken better care of myself!
Have a great Break. :) Maybe you'll get some reading material soon. :D

Mike,

I couldn't sit still either after my surgery. I spent many a weekend limbing dead fall, wind blown, trees with a machete' to expose the main tree log so a friend of mine could cut it up for his firewood. There were a couple times I thought (like you) that I might have over done it. Also, I was standing on my truck's rear tire getting something out of the pickup bed when my footing slipped off the tire tread... you guessed it, I instinctually grabbed for the truck bed to restrict my fall which felt like I had tore the hell out of all that work they did to repair it. It took a while for that pain to go away. Bottom line... that shoulder will give you grief for a full year, my friend... A FULL YEAR!! But... the work they do in repairing them is actually pretty sturdy especially since the time, now, that it's been since you've been allowed to return to work. Reality is... "NO PAIN, NO GAIN"!! You literally have to push yourself to stretch those ligaments, tendons, and the muscles that have atrophied. If you don't, your shoulder will remain stiff and be problematic with all these physical encounters that stretch the scar tissues and cause you to yell out in pain.

But... work'n that machete' was a great exercise for my arm and shoulder. Three months after that I began raking dirt, gravel, and shoveling loads of dirt into and out of a skid sled while installing a new front yard onto our new home. Work's good for what ails ya, both mentally and physically. Hang in there... I doubt you've damaged anything they fixed, just abused some scar tissue is all, and that's a good thing, really. ;)

I want the t-shirt that represents "The Sons of Arthritis". It's a growing biker group that's spreading across the Nation. They got some awesome cool T-shirts and logos. HAHAHA
