The wind dropped some before it hit land, but those poor folks who live there—in the area where it hit, mostly it is poor fishing villages and farmers living in shacks. It will blow the houses away and they will be living under a piece of plastic sheet tied off to four trees until they can put up a new roof and some walls. I saw it first hand down here back in 1997. A category 5 hurricane blows all of the leaves off the trees and everything is covered in a green slurry of pulverized leaves and mud. You can't stand up in it; you have to crawl on your hands and knees to get anywhere. And the broken glass flying around at 160 miles per hour is deadly.
