yea, the crucibles live in my shop until Im ready to use them, and the one that I already fired, I put in a ziploc bag to keep it from absorbing any moisture again. It lives on the shelf with the steam engine parts, so I know it wont get knocked off and nothing will happen to it, lol.

Those track anchors are pretty tough, they're 1060 with a little extra manganese added for strength, but if you make something out of one of those, it will hold an edge for ages and you wont really have to worry about sharpening it again, lol. I remember a while back, someone used one of those and had two people with sledgehammers to move those things, but drew it out to make a katana out of it, lol. It was pretty neat, but defenitely not something I really would want to do, lol. It is good for cutting bits for the lathe, expecially if you braze some carbide onto them because it is some very stiff/rigid stuff, lol.

Started playing with some copper in the forge. Made some Frederick's Cross. I'm getting pretty quick with them about 15 to 20 minutes. I tried to get some pictures of the steps. The unfolding is the tricky part, trying to keep it even. It's hard if you don't get the cuts even. Heating the copper every now and then and cooling it to anneal it.

Tool Identification... OK, what's it called? It's an attachment for a brace or a post drill, and it self advances on each rotation. I got it at an auction and a guy tried to buy it for more than I paid for the whole box of tools. I figured it must be worth something so I kept it.

from the looks of it I would say that its used to drill a hole in a pipe or whatever you can strap it on to so the hole will be square to whatever it is that your putting the hole in.

could you take it apart so that we can see the part that is on the inside.

Made these little hangers for my wife today. She's making a decorative lantern thing for her sisters. I'll put a picture of a finished one soon.
