Why convex instead of concave? Wouldnt the other way around track towards center better? I understand you would not want it on the working wheel but the drive and idler concave and the working flat seems like it hold to the belt better.

Either way as long as it stays on its all good.

if your wheels are concave the belt will be loose in the middle, if they are convex when you go to track the belt the wheels will steer the belt same as riding a bike you lean it one way the belt moves.
