That thing is one massive chunk of clay, lol. It looks really good, almost lifelike and I'd be afraid of it if I saw it in a dark room, lol.

I have been patiently waiting for your return, Frank. I know how life is. Sometimes all you can do is drop back and punt. (Please, you Ozzies, forgive my jargon; it's an American football term.)

This forum has turned into, more or less, a club of us old-timers who have become friends. Although we will probably never see each other, I do keep threatening to go up to Oklahoma to see Dave's guns, maybe the eighth wonder of the modern world.

I was going to ask Frank if he wanted to send me his pictures and I would try to reload them. Glad you could help him out Mike.

All good Jerry, I'll help out when I can. Disregard the PM I sent you, but I'm guessing you already worked that out LOL LOL

Cae, actually there’s only about 150 lbs of clay so far. Inside there’s a 2x4 stick figure; several rods of rebar bent to give it a foundation of girth; then a boatload of crumpled newspaper to give it some mass; then a wrap of chicken wire; then a coating of spray foam insulation which gave it an obese mass which I carved back to some resemblance of what it ought to be (shy of a final layering of clay which gave me the ability to finesse detail and alter it as I felt needed now and then).

Altogether, I guestimate its weight to be near 300 lbs, which includes the thick metal plate and casters it’s on.

My biggest frustration since the day this project first began has been life’s impedance keeping it repeatedly stalled. Looong story I care not to get into. But this sculpt has moved from Alaska to WA, back to AK, back to WA, moved to storage across town, moved out of storage to where it’s at now, and stood idle for the past two years since I didn’t have space to work in.

I spent the past year working armed security to save up cash to afford a nice custom shed to empty the garage into leaving me FINANCIALLY space in the garage to set up my studio and foundry equipment. The day I got my equipment back in the garage at ready, I brought the bear awake, and with a vengeance, it seemed to take on a life of its own! And all the above is why I gave it the name DEFIANCE! Precisely my attitude at this moment in time.

The aluminum version will serve to hustle the remake and sale of a bronze. Average sale price for life size bronze statuary this size is $160k. More if you’re “someone of notarity.” I may not be famous but I have created centennial artwork several times. I’ve also created several public art pieces for schools and a business or two. Though I may not be famous in the art world I can still do quality artwork that often has competed and won against other noteworthy artists and took them by surprise.

This bear will get done in aluminum and powder coated, giving me a chance to solicit a bronze version after. Good art sells is my past experience!

Well that’s a no-go for posting pics. I’m using a cell phone and somewhat technically challenged!

I don't know about posting from a phone but I would think it should work. I checked your permissions and it wouldn't let me post so I reset them and then could post a picture. You can send them to Mike or me, we're all ready to help you out. It's just great someone is actually doing something.  Maybe CAE will post some of the stuff he's been doing.
