whipped up these two blocks for the Z Axis bearings.
I also think I may of found a solution to the problem of my blower giving up the blue smoke yesterday, if what I am going to try works I should have enough air to run a Cupola also, I found some motorized fan wheels that blow the air out the edge of the wheel, and I already have a start on a housing for a fan that this should work in, will post what happens with it, it'll be a few days before Brown brings the wheel.

^^^ I follow as well. I just don't have much to say since I've never casted anything but wax Hot Wheel cars when I was young. Besides, I'm sure my smart ass comments would get old.
Dave, I'll try to get a pic of that stand part. Won't be this weekend as we're off to take the daughter for a college visit...

We all have something to contribute, I have half of a pistol grip all invested and not sure about how to proceed with the was removal and casting but I'll get to it.latzanimal wrote:^^^ I follow as well. I can say that it got a bit interesting today when I put the bearings in the bars without having any mounting holes drilled in them, had to tape up the ends as the bearings are pressed in, and only had a quarter of an inch to get threads in them with, but I got them.mite5255 wrote:This is a very interesting project Dave, we're all watching mate
Jammer, I'm thinking that I've bought or ordered just about all that I need to finish it, now its just a matter of seeing if I can actually get it together and working.Jammer wrote:We are all here Dave, waiting on further developments.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
figured out last night after posting the last message that I need to order up about a hundred dollars of end supports for two of the leadscrews. Anyway that probably won't happen till I get my check in April, so till then I'll keep slugging away at what I can, like the Z Axis which I have been slowy making some progress on today.
I messed up on the holes in the plate that the bearings are bolted onto, but I think I can just get them welded and be done with it.
Here's where I'm at now.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
OK I posted a photo in the last post of the Z axis slide with what is for now the spindle motor on it , well here's one of the Z slide without the motor but on the Y axis rails.
I'm really liking the way this thing is coming together!!!
Slides both ways with no binding which is a good thing, By mistake I got the holes in the gantry end plates a couple thousands to big but that may work in my favor when it come time to actually put it all together on the frame.
slight setback in the router project today when I found out that the Z axis won't get within about 5 inches of the table so now I have to figure out which way to swap stuff around so that it will get down to table height without me having to buy really long really expensive endmills. Guess you could say its just one of the perils of being your own engineer and R&D team

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
not much done today on the router, need to make a run to Metal Supermarket for some Aluminum flat bar, did get in some work on my Rescue Grill, yes I have a Rescue Dog and now a Rescue Barbie had to make a grate to hold lave rock and put in a new burner should be cooking some brats here pretty quick.
I've also been trying to draw the parts that I'm making with Solid Works and not sure which is giving me the biggest headache SW or the Shop Monster, I'm at the point with SW that I can actually draw a box without too much trouble.

the new plate that will go between the Y and Z axis, the bearings for both axis will mount on this plate
