hope you get it figured out, the link should of took you straight to the video on UTube.

I had hoped to try and melt some cast iron today but due to people stopping by and MOTHER NATURE rearing her ugly head and it trying to rain I had to cover everything up and will try to give it a shot tomorrow, the mold is nothing fancy just a square block that if the melt is any good will used as material for anything that needs to be cut from a 4 X 5 X 1.5 chunk of CI.

I think rasper hinted at maybe melting the wall in the furnace, this photo was taken the other day after ran the burner for almost and hour burnng oil. The photo shows a portion of the furnace floor that is glazed over from the refractory melting due to the heat, this photo is a pretty good representation of what the whole floor looks like.
You just have to love it when things get hot enough to melt even f they aren't suppose too.

I keep saying that if I could only figure out how to build a big enough blower I could melt a hole all the way through the earth to China with my Brute waste oil burner.

I was on a job in Louisiana and had to swap out a fan on the filter, the one we used to replace with was a 36" 500 horse power job would that of been big enough.

was able to get the furnace hot enough today that the cast iron ran 3 inches down a 3/32 inch vent hole when I poured what was left into a containment ring on top of the mold. part came out ok but haven't taken any photos of it yet, its just a roughly 4 X 5 inch block.

That's great flow for Iron. I had a needle like that on some aluminum castings but not Iron. How hot do you think it was?

28 2900 degrees in that neighborhood somewhere, this was one of the hottest melts that I've done. The melt took about 40 minutes and I used over a gallon of oil, I measured the tank when I started at 18.75 and ended at 14.5 inches with 3 inches being close to a gallon, plus I turned on the heater and the oil was about 150 when I lite the burner.

one thing I do know is that the iron was boiling when I shut the burner off.

Here's the casting before and after I milled one side.

and the crucible that I've treated really bad by having melts freeze in it and all kinds of crap. It sprung a leak today just to screw with me just before I pulled it out of the furnace.

Also received the last of the drivers that I have been replacing the ones that came in CNC Kit with to get rid of the one with SMC's, now to get some CAD software loaded backup and one more stepper motor and ballscrew to stop the gitter in the X Axis with, and I should be set to do something even if its wrong.

dragged the new A10 silicon carbide crucible out of the closet last night and in between mowing the yard and spraying it to kill weeds I rammed up three molds so that I could play with the furnace in the morning,

Have the video camera on the charger so hopefully I can get some video tomorrow.
