Re: Cincinnati Shaper
The rifle looks great, and that looks like a throwing knife. Did you file it all by hand? I working on a blade a guy sent me a few years ago. It's supposed to be Wootz Steel, I need to see if I can get the pattern to show up. Another guy sent me a chunk of Wootz, I should be able to make a couple small blades from it. I'll have to start a thread for all my forge work the last few weeks.
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Thanks of the Rifle, dip the blade in hot vinegar, that should pull the pattern up, or use some muriatic acid ( I would dilute it first you can always add more and use the stuff away from anything you don't want to rust, so outside of the shop).Jammer wrote:The rifle looks great, and that looks like a throwing knife. all except where I used a cutoff wheel to cut the point and the swell for the palm. all the taper was filed in about 2 hours. just start off with the roughest file you have and work down from there.
some guys make a jig to hold the file at an angle I scribe a line down the center of what was going to be the edge and had at it. Shaper make one hell of a filing station, for some reason it doesn't wobble or rock like my bench does
I looked at some Demaskas but at 15 to 20 bucks and inch I'm gonna have to find a sugar momma or sell the gopher special to buy the stuff.
Here's what it looks like when I stopped tonight.
