I must say I love that rifle. I have shot a .45-70 a number of times—the old Army rifle. I like those old big caliber rifles. I grew up around guns. My father and I hunted together. Four of his brothers had big tobacco farms in Virginia with plenty of game on them.
Do you really need 2 HP to run a narrow belt?
Up in California, where my other shop is, they sell 3 phase motors for almost nothing. No one can use them. Mostly for the weight of the copper I guess.
I found this almost new 2 HP single phase motor on Craig's List for 100 dollars. It's a Dayton.

Yes, a lot of the commercial units have even more HP, grit causes friction.
Bet things have changed in San Diego, around here if its on Craigs list its either junk or they want new or more for the price,
