Cincinnati Shaper
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Now I admit to not knowing a great deal about guns, but the forearm looks way to squarish
, just kidding Dave
, does your whittling arm get tired after shaping all that wood

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Mike I've got to split that piece down the middle before I start whittling on it.
And no the arm doesn't get tired of whittling, but it damn sure gets tired of rubbing sand paper back and forth over the wood.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I find if I'm doing repetitive work like sanding, and more so if I have a lot to do my brain turns to mush
, but some people do think my brains mush all the time

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Hey Dave, I am in need of a re-cap of your gun production. You made a .45-70 (or was it a .45-90?) and then I believe a .22 caliber rifle. And this is what? A .50-90? Pardon my memory. My wife finds it annoying sometimes as well. Although her's is just as bad. Sometimes I leave my study to go out to my shop and when I get there I have forgotten what I came for. Of course I used to do that when I was twenty-five.
Have you taken them out an fired them much? I suspect you have the same interest I have. When I finish making something I lose all interest in it. I love the making, not as much the using.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
you have the order correct 45/70 .22 mag and now 50/90
no I don't shoot them except for proof of operation, not really anyplace around here now days to go shoot the distance that this rifles will, plus even reloading it cost a bit to shoot very much.
I guess its the act of taking a box of bits and pieces and a couple hunks of wood and making something out of it that makes me build them, plus as a kid I always thought that being a gunsmith was the neatest thing to be.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
had to put the toys up today and make some money, I really hated to do it but the guy kept on insisting that I take his money.
Plus got a pleasant surprise in the email box today when I checked it, couldn't hardly believe my eyes but the shipping notice for the reamer that I had ordered was sitting there, reamer should be here first of next week, which means I may get to shoot it before Thanksgiving, if I get off my butt and load up some shells.

nothing earth shattering happening on the rifle build, I did however get back to the changes which I am wanting to make on my burner which I hope will eliminate the problems I have with the o-ring
