received the box today with the new patterns so after spending the morning drinking coffee with a friend and cooking a slab of ribs I fired up and played with the furnace.

Sands a little dry and being cantankerous, but were getting there, gotta start using a bigger sprue and checking the melt temp, but I did get a couple useable parts.
from the first pour

and after some more time with the sand paper and doctoring the sand a touch I did a little better, out of these three parts the knob is the only one that had any real damaging shrinkage

haven't done that one yet, the dude sent me two different setup on the shifter handle one top with my last name and one without, first part was for him for his jeep but it has some shrinkage in it that's visible in the photos.

I have a couple more of the knobs left to do, and get him a handle for his jeep them I will play with the one with my name.

I need to start using the air hose to blow the molds out so that I can get rid of the sand inclusions, I thought that I had this one pretty clean but looks like there was still some loose in the mold, it may of come from closing the mold which might of knocked some particles loose.

Thanks, yes they looked pretty damn good, I checked the temp on this pot full of aluminum and poured it at around 1230 ˚F, and from the looks of the parts most of the shrinkage I was able to make occur in areas of the parts (like the bottom of the base) where it isn't a problem.
