yea, dont end up in the hospital anymore, trips to that place always sucks, lol. Also, nice pocket watch, but I think if you were looking for a new ticker, you kinda got the wrong type. :P

seems to be that one of the bypasses that was done back in 05 may be plugging up, good news is that the didn't stick me on a pace maker so I guess that the problem isn't too big. BUT along with all that they also said that I have type 2 diabetes now which is suppose to be controllable by diet, so I don't have to take any pills for that.

along with all of those problems I seem to of kickstarted my self back into the pocket hobby with the purchase of a watch the other day, I does seem like some of the tools that I wasn't able to afford a few years ago have come down in price I bought a complete Jacot tool set this morning which also included the bow, and case for a hundred dollars it has some issues but hey the ones that don't have issues are several hundred bucks so I figure that I did pretty good.

As far as letting the group know if I am in the hospital, is just a matter of using the cell phone and getting on line. but as long as I don't go in and have any more cameras run around the inside of the pump, then come home ad get up the next morning and start hanging up swarm traps and carrying the crap all over my yard and the neighbors I should be ok, anyway I didn't bust any artery's open, so I guess I had waited long enough to be safe.

received tbewatch today, will get some photos up in a day or two, have to go out of town tomorrow so maybe Wednesday.

anyway it looked a lot worse then the picture that I posted. But I took it apart anyway and gave the little bits a good soaking in some naphtha to clean them up some.

cleaning the case was the worse part but it cleaned up ok, wish the elk on the backside wasn't worn almost completely off, you can just barely tell what it is.

anyway I put it back together and wound up the main spring and gave it a little nudge and damn if it didn't start running.

I did loose the second hand when I tried to remove it, so I took one off of another movement that I had and damn if i didn't loose it also so now I gotta order up a couple of those.

last time I looked it was still running and I have had it in just about every position that it can be placed in and it was still running the last time I looked.

need to figure out some way to fix the bow on the case its got a lot of wear on it.

ok someone tell me how big of a glutten for punishment I am. I just made a bid on this Key wind Key Set Elgin movement and won it. This is one watch that I want very bad, the movement was made sometime around 1885.

complete watches in running condition go for a pretty penny, so I figured that I would take the easy/cheap way of getting one and just gather up parts from the right period in time and build me one.
Photo of the movement.

I'm hoping that there isn't too much wrong with the movement and that I can get parts if I need any. sourcing parts for these things can be a nightmare, kinda like trying to find a new crankshaft for Stutzs Bearcat.

Anyway still havn't taken the time to get a couple photos of the last watch I worked on posted, but I do have some good news, its been running every since monday evening without stopping and is keeping fairly accurate time which makes me pretty happy. you end up going thru a bunch of these old watches trying to find on that you can bring back to life without having to replace and fix other peoples f%^kups.

that movement has some amazingly beautiful engraving work on it, I really like the fonts and engraving at the bottom left of it. That kind of stuff, you dont see anymore and shows how much work and admiration that the original builder put into the watch when they made it.

I have two English key wind watches, J B Tobias. I bought one because I liked the case but it didn't run. broken little ticker wheel thing. I bought the second to put the movement into the case I liked but it was a different size. :(

I have two watches. My father bought a Waltham new in the 1950's. It's a nice watch and runs perfectly. I also have his father's watch which is a Hamilton. It runs perfectly too. It is gold filled, and the gold is a little worn, but otherwise it is perfect.

I have never owned a wrist watch.
