Re: where is everybody?
We are all still around. Personally, life seems to be getting in the way of fun, and work is having to come first. I will try to poke my head in from time to time tho!

Re: Compressor alternative for a Siphon Burner
Are you able to use the T.W. pump straight of 110v or do you have to utilize some kind of power supply? I wasnt able to find anything on that pump using just a simple search. The Gast Rotary pump is supposed to put out up to 15 psi with 3450rpm @ 1/15 hp pushing it. I found a decent 1/3hp motor that...

Re: Data Ive Accumulated...
Ive looked into Tixogel as well Rocco, but the distributor in SW Ohio was a jerk on the phone, so Bentone for now I guess. Really tho, Im thinking that in the long run, the premixed and premulled stuff from Retco Online may be the best bet for me. $60 fo 50lbs plus shipping is probably gonna be a be...

The Clay is Specifically Bentone 34 manufactured by Elementis Specialties . The oil was Penzoil marine grade 2 stroke oil . Catalyst is just Isopropyl alcohol from the drug store - I have been using the higher concentration - 91% IIRC - which will have less water in it. There has been talk that the ...

I havent had a whole lot of time since may or so to do much casting at all. But I have been thinking a lot and have several ideas that I think can generate som...

Re: Helm Wheel Pattern
thats a great looking pattern, and Im always impressed with your how tos. I am curious tho, why dont you just sprue into the back of the hub? Are you afraid the metal will wash out the sand in the front of he hub? I was just thinking that a single sprue down to the hub, with a vent at the end of eac...

not to get too far off topic, but you will love the pads for music, and as an internet machine. They arent great for much else tho. I have an iPad...it wasnt my first choice, the missus scored it as a thank you from a client at work. Shes not much into electronics, so she gave it to me (tho, really,...

Re: Aluminum Flask
I think usually this is where a follower comes into play, it lets you get a very flat part line compared to really coping down that deep which gives steeper angles to your part line. I agree with harry that a coped part line allows the sand to shift while you ram, so again, I think a flatter coped p...
