out with the new in with the old
Hi all in bymc I was hobby guy. Well that name just didn't fit. Seeing as I never really introduced my self on bymc now seems to be a good time to do so. How ever on a sidenote the way I came up wiith this name is that lately I've Suffered setback after setback. I got to feeling that I would be an old man before I got anything done. So I was thinking old and then remembered the synonym for old that I was always was fond of and so my name came to be. Anywho back on topic for me this all started when I was little and was a fire bug. My mom was always taking lighters away from me. After about a year of this my mother got fed up with me and signed me up for the boy scouts of america. I was active in the scouts for about 3 years before i found out they had something that incorperates fire with creation in the form of a merit badge. That ladies and gents was metalworking, blacksmithing in actuality, after this I will admit that the bug had bitten me and I applied my fascination with fire to a constructive purpose and started working metal with a forge I put together from parts that I got from a 150 year old store up in New York that was being shut down. For about 3 years it was bliss for me until I one day I left a bit of iron in the fore a little to long and it started to melt and dribble out the bottom of the tweer making a neat little stalagtite. I thought this was cool and thought wouldn't it be just awsome if I could do this in a controlled manner. So I did some digging and learned the best metal I had access to that I could start out with was aluminum. So I started up the forge and thew in a soup can (Yes I know now that this was a bad idea) and tossed in some old window and door frame pieces and melted It down and pored it into muffin tins. At this point I thought i was good so I started to really dig around and build a real foundry. So I went and built a propane foundry and had my fun. Then I tried to build an oil burner and successfully slagged my foundry. I now have acquired an atomizer nozzle and commercial refractory and am now trying to build a new and better foundry that will let me do what I wand without complaining.
