So you all don't think I been laying about watching Nascar, heres a couple photos to sorta explain what I been doing all day besides casting a part for a guy.

I got all the gussets in the (to me) outside of the pulley the side thats going to be facing out. I also think I did a hell of a better job on these then I did on the ones yesterday.

I also started putting in the wax fillets have most of it done on this side and only about half to do on the other side. couple photos of that

got some done on the pattern today, had a visit from DBinOKC today, he's one of he members on AA that lives pretty close. Was able to show him what I have been doing with the shaper and what I am hoping to accomplish.

Anyway I throwed the pulley back in the lathe and turned what I hope is enough draft on the outside for it to clear the sand.
right photos.

I used to use flat belts on my machinery in my boatyard. I found that pulleys with a pretty pronounced crown in them made the belt ride in the center better.

the crown is still to be cut after its poured when I do the machining, but you have to have some taper or I don't care how good you are you probably wouldn't pull this thing out of the sand

the real one only has a very slight crown to it. who ever put the original base on the shaper when it was changed to electric power did a good job. cause when I put this transmission on it I didn't have to mess with any thing to get the belt to stay on.

here's where we start the morning at today. after I take the shop monster for a walk and go to the hardware store for a paint brush. I started putting some tung oil that I had leftover from my AK build (made all american black walnut pieces to replace all the plywood original 1957 soviet crap that was on it) on this thing just to see what it would look like with a bit of shine.
who knows may be a bowl of dip in the middle and some corn chips I got the new party bowl, what you'll think.

I said in a video that I'm not a carpenter, or a cabinet maker, or pattern maker, but I want a single speed pulley on the Cincinnati so the only way I have of getting one is to make this pattern that you guys have put up with me posting all the photos (I know how Ed like's pictures). No its not a work of art have to get someone else for that.

This is hopefully only going to be used one time and who knows maybe in a hundred years someone will find it and say, Hey look what some Redneck cobbled together.

This is going to probably be the last of the pictures where it looks sorta pretty, from here as soon as a knock together a flask out of something I will try to ram it up, I think I have a smooth enough finish on it that it will pull, but the only way to know is to bury it in some sand and try to get it back out.

And I'm also tired of sanding on the damn thing.

I really didn't know if I would be able to pull this off or not, the only wood working tools I have are a hand saw and a skill saw, I used my neighbors table saw, and borrowed a miter saw from a buddy to do this with.

I do want to thank everyone that has commented on it.

I have a couple more pieces that I want to make for the shaper, one is the crank I don't have one, and there is suppose to be a hand wheel on it that is used to position the ram its missing so I still have some work to do after I see if I can cast this I have and A20 which should be plenty big but may have to have a smaller one on hand to feed the shrinkage, won't know on that till it happens.

did a little research today and found out that my A20 crucible will hold enough metal to pour the pattern with, I may have to have a smaller crucible standing by to finish filling the riser but I will just have to wait till it happens to find out anyway whats in the bucket is twenty pounds of aluminum.

and just to scratch an itch that I had as to the age old question will it come out of the sand after molding so I rammed up the outside have in a cheek that I have for one of my wooden flask.
what you see tore up around what looks like a core print is where I forgot to remove a part from the pattern that I had been using to hold it with in the lathe.
