here's something that may help out the sick cripple, or lame crowd. will have something on the mold part of the pour tomorrow for sure. I almost lost this when the sand sheared off where I have grooves cut in the flask sides to hold it, but thank the foundry god's we were able to get it closed up and poured, I have the shaft hole bored but like a dumbass I took it out of the lathe thinking I was like 3 thou too big, instead of pulling the shaft out of the shaper so now I get to do a little shop floor fitup. need it on the shaft so I can turn the outside.

And them guys at Cincinnati told me it couldn't be done!!

Well done, that concrete block must have been a bit heavy for your mate :lol: poem below is for the people at Cincinnati

It Couldn't Be Done
Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

Latzanimal

Thanks you get that big lathe hooked up I'll send it up to you for turning and boring :D :D :D

I got it to the point of almost going on the shaft yesterday then did the stupid thing of taking it out of the chuck, so now I get the supreme pleasure of the flap wheel and a drill to get the one or two thousands that still need to open it up for it to fit the shaft. Then I can stick it shaft and all back in the lathe to turn the outside.

its big, heavy, and has some defects, reminds me of myself but it sure was pretty when I pulled it up out of the sand yesterday to see a full pour with the only two defects that you can really see is 1, some sand inclusions and 2, a shrink on the end of the hub that was pointed up and most of that was cut off last night when I cleaned up the face of the hub getting ready to bore it out.

Sorry no photos of it in the lathe yesterday, yes I know the shop monster already informed me that I need to be beat with a barrel stave for not taking pictures or at the least some video.

I lost the video that I was trying to upload last night when the power glitched, of where we pulled the pattern and closed the mold. Will get back to that today have to reedit the whole thing guess that will make me start saving them first after editing then upload them.

he's a new weight loss program I'm trying to get everyone hooked on,

sorry about the no video I had it uploading and went to bed, guess some drunk must of hit pole last night I got up at three to find the puter dead in the living room so I get to redo the mold part all over again.

Been working all day on the pulley, been slowly but surely opening up the bore for the shaft need to go get a flap sander so I can move a little faster on it.
throwed this together today while working on the pulley

one thing thou I said I was going to make it, never said anything about it lining up with the other one. there's about an inch of difference in alignment.

and all the things except the clamp handle on the ram couldn't get it in the pic without backing way up.

Wow, that's great Dave. Send that picture to Cincinnati! The last one, not the one that doesn't quite line up. :)
