That's great David, I haven't even seen a swarm in years.

some of the little ladies don't seem to want to get out of the bed of the pickup, they went with me to wal-mart.

got to run over to my nephew's place this evening and check on a swarm trap that I have hanging over there.

Damn bees got me for another 40.00 bucks this morning for a respirator so I could treat them for bugs. funnier then all get out when you think about it, treating bugs for bugs.

Tracheal or Varroa mites? Little buggers get in there and they are tough to get rid of. What's the killer bee situation like in your area? I don't think they ever got this far north.

did you treat them with stearic acid? that usually kills off the mites pretty effectively.

I'm using Oxalic acid, I actually started tresting them a couple weeks ago, but dropped the ball and didn't do it again until this morning

Varroa, will have to do some research on the Tracheal bugs and see if I need to kill some of them also.

I've been out of beekeeping for a while but we used to put some bees in a jar and spray some starting fluid in and shake them up. The varroa would fall off and stick to the jar. The tracheal, we had to have them dissected to look at their trachea for the little mites. They used to use some kind of menthol for treatment but I don't remember if it was for both or just one.

I'm thinking that most of my problem is brood based, when hunting for the old queen on tuesday it looked to me like the brood was drying up.

Anyway I released the new queen this morning hoping for some type of improvement in the next 10 to 15 days.

There is a disease called Chalkbrood, it's kind of rare, at least in Ohio. Does Oklahoma have a bee inspection service? I was the county inspector here back in the 80's. There's no charge for the inspection in Ohio and I was paid by the county.
