I got the X Axis ball screw and motor on the router today. I still have a ways to go before I can say its finished because of things like getting frame lined up and welded, so that the X Axis will stop jerking.

Anyway here's a little video that I took today after I got it running I was running it off my Old HP laptop which I don't think is fast enough, I was about half way thru the Roadrunner File when it stopped. But the great thing is that it runs on its own.

I also received in the mail the new 5 Axis Breakout board that I had ordered, I like this board a lot better then the one that came in the kit, one thing I like is the 5 Volts is a simple plug in a USB cable instead of having to find some power supply.

I should have some help tomorrow which means I can take it out in the light and get a better video, I know this one sucks but at least you can see it running.

Man Dallen, you have been busy over here! That CNC seems to be working like a charm. I have the CNC bug now and can't wait to make something do some CNC work!

glad you stopped in and peeked at it, I'm still a ways away from doing any actual cutting but and really happy with where I've gotten to with it. Can't do any casting till I get a new blow for the big burner I lost a bearing in the vacuum cleaner motor I had been using.

nice job on your fuel tank I built mine out of some 10 inch pipe. the electric heating element I put in it really helped.

sorry no bad vidoes or photos to post today, but I have been making some progress on the router, I've gotten it to run the complete Roadrunner GCode file that comes with Mach3 without any problems. But after running some calibrations moves on it today it decided to take off out into left field or somewhere nearby and I haven't gotten back to it just yet.

I did get in one photo of it hidden under a cover of parts and tools while it was asleep

got in some time on the router today, swapped out the breakout board and was able to get the limits to work, don't know whats wrong with the other board its brand new straight from China. now if I can just get the axis sorted out to the way I think they should be aligned with the screen I might be able to get somewhere.

Also melted some aluminum, took and old combustion air blower for a HVAC unit that I had laying around and hooked it up so I could fire up a burner. tried to recast the clamp handle but really messed up the mold and didn't put in big enough gates I poured this at around 1100 degrees.

Right photo
first is redneck damper control.

Second is a Fluke Temp unit my little Brother in Tulsa gifted me. with a Rasper K thermal Couple setup, i sorta fired the one I had from Mifco on a Cast Iron melt, the insulators melted to the wires it was that hot.

Third is the failed casting.

it was a bust on getting a good part but I learned a little bit today, so next time I should get a full mold with a really nice finish

Happy Easter.

Dave, had you looked at the Mach 3 site yet? It's a great place to ask questions and get a lot of help. Tweakie is a lot of help, he's always ready to give some good advice. He converted his machine to LASER and has been making some very tiny stuff. Here's a link to his site.

I've read a lot of the post on the Arcsoft forum about limit switches, but most of it didn't help. I was able to get them working by switching the Breakout Boards.

I'll check out Tweakie's site, cause I need all the help I can get.
