That's fantastic Davedallen wrote:another day of working on the computer has almost passed and I'm about done, most of whats left is some wiring and switches that I will have to order from the far land so it will be a while before I can get that part finished.
But today I was able to get the four panel jacks mounted and all the assorted wiring straighten up, was also able to find and old AMD heat sink that would work on this Intel board, so that means I don't have to make a duct to get cooling air onto the processor.
Here's todays photo. and the amazing thing is with all the fumbling around, drilling holes, making parts and what not, the damn thing still boots up, and this morning even made me activate it.

Don't forget to add a handle on the top to carry it…
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I haven't but they will have to wait till payday which is a couple weeks away. But yes it will need handles as it has to be portable to fit into the scheme of things around here.latzanimal wrote:Don't forget to add a handle on the top to carry it…

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I hooked it all up today and tried to cut a simple square to see if the stepper drivers and related parts were still working after the building of the box. I'm happy to say that they still work, but I've got to get the table board screwed down or something the steppers are dragging it all over the place once the cutter goest thru into it.
Hoping to get the thing up on the tail gate of the pickup tomorrow an see if I can actually do some cutting of parts, and align the Z Axis which looks a little out of square.
maybe cut a pattern to make some grab handles for the computer box that I can cast up, thats what I built it for might as well start using it.

I've fired it up, just not on anything of any size due to the limiting factor of only being able to use 1/8" cutters, tried some aluminum today but it gummed up the endmill so I still have some self-schooling to do on that itemJammer wrote:Might as well fire it up!!

hauled it outside and throwed it on the back of the pickup so I could get around it and been playing with it and BobCad which is a software package that I bought last year.
Here's a couple of photos that I took today. The second one is of the shop monster, I took a bit of video but have to edit it before I can post it, which will happen later this evening

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Ok weathers been hot here the last couple of days, up in the hundred degree range on the thermometer, and there's been no metal casting due to the dray weather and the big fire thats been burning since Sunday, hopefully the weather will cooperate today and they can get it put out.
So I've been playing with other stuff, like trying to draw up a part for the shaper that I need. Simple Door Latch, I can draw the part fine trying to create the gcode to cut it out on the router is a different story. Anyway last night for something different I drew the part in Solid Works, then was finally able to reopen the file in BobCad and created the code to cut the part with.
On a different note about the Router, I had been planning on ordering a Spindle motor with VFD control but due to an unexpected bill showing up I'm going to have to stay with a 1/4" router which I hope to pick one up from HF next week after I get paid. Being able to use a bigger bit will make using the router much easier.

I got my 48 volt DC spindle motor from China. It's got a 1/8" collet, I'm trying to see if I can get a larger one for it, almost all my bits are 1/4". I hooked the motor to a power supply and it ran so smooth and quiet, I need to get it hooked up. The router is driving me crazy.
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
did it come with an ER 11 or 16 collet, you can order individual collets from Shars pretty cheap. I think the ER 11 series goes up to 1/4 inch the ER 16 ones go up to 3/8".
you ran it off of a 48 volt DC power supply?, link to the motor you bought please so I can check it out.
