I think I'm gonna stop playing with this part for now and work on a crank handle as they were cast also.

but for now here's a couple more shots of the casting in the mill.
this one I'm fly cutting off the pad that bolts to the table slide.

this one I was facing off the side that the ( don't know what its called but its used to put the table feed into neutral), I finished this in the lathe as I had to remove it from the mill to check length on the shaper.

and finally on the shaper, its like my old daddy use to say just a little bit off but not sure where. actually I think its in the mounting pad plus one of the bolts I think had been stripped and gunk stuck in it cause I felt something let go on one of them.

That's the same type of advance that was on a printing press I used to have. It would advance the pile of paper forward into the feeder arm, just a click at a time.

from what I have been able to find out from the couple of pictures of other shapers of the same brand and type what I came up with isn't actually correct in the shape, the basic design is right but the shape is way off.

Any way I've been doing shedley stuff the last few days, my new neighbor across the street came over and dug a couple post holes for me so I had to get off my duff and build a shed roof so I got some shade to work under during the heat of the day.

worked on the shed most of the day, had to stop on that and remove a stuck 7/8 inch bolt from a belt tensioner for a guy earned a couple dollars there. maybe enough to buy the last 2X4 I need.

anyway worked on the flat belt pulley drawings I'm wanting to cast if I can get a pattern made. here's a screen shot of the segmented build up that I'm going to have to make.

Need 48 of these little pieces

That will be nice to have a place to get out of the sun. Actually, here it would be to get out of the rain. When the sun does shine it really seems hot on top of my old head.

wait till next year when it doesn't rain, you'll be thinking your down south with Rasper.

Yes its making a lot of shade yesterday after i got what tin you see in the photo on about 11 AM it was getting nice and shady under it and with the breeze going on me and the shop monster sat out there and drank ICE TEA and visited with my neighbor from across the fence.

Sorry no shaper work this morning I did take a freon can last night and turn it into a fuel tank for the oil burner sorry no photo of it.

here's a couple of rough cad drawings of what I am going to attempt to do with making a pattern and pouring a single speed flat belt pulley

Dave, this is how I make most of my drumshells. If you have a band saw, I can show you a way to save material and time on the lathe....

don't have one, and seeing as how the stack is only going to be 3.5 inches tall, it won't take long to turn, its also going to have to be in two pieces for the split in the pattern

been busy today fired the furnace up and did the big nut that locks the shaft that you use to adjust the stroke on the shaper with in Cast Iron

after it cooled down

Ok I did a little more cutting on it, but its still no good and I will have to pour another one.
