Ok, here's some photo's

first up is the pattern it got wet and warpped Friday night.

So I used it anyway.

Then I tried to straighten it out.

The inside of the Furnace, yes it been used hard and put up hot!!

The crucible I used today this is its fourth melt

stove up and running with ingots preheating

its kinda hard to take stills of the pour when your working alone, so here's the shot of the finished pour.

Sorry no shot of the shake out in the still's I took today hope to post a video of it later this evening

Crucible after clean out not as clean as I would of liked it to be, but I was working alone

Today was a good pour, the mold filled, the iron was machineable, and the part looks like it may be ok, so far I haven't found any slag hole of hot tears or shrinkage problems.

Yesterday I sliced a piece off of a hunk of DuraBar Cast Iron (Durabar is a continues cast product and is very consistent and absolutely the best to work with if you have to machine cast iron) which is some really nice iron to work with, stuff saws like cutting butter I mean my little 4X6 grizz Horizontal saw smiled at me when I put the bar in it and turned it on and less then ten minutes later I had my slice, the riser that I cut off the Flywheel casting today cut like DuraBar it was that soft.

Thanks I'm really like'n this new blower, and what it will do. Hope to make another pour of Cast Iron in the next couple of days soon as I get the cylinder pattern finished enough to ram it up along with the fly wheel (need a new one this last one has a hot tear in it also), going to try a smaller riser on the center hub and a larger bob in front of the gate see if that will stop it.
Will try to get a photo of the small hot tear in this last casting, for something to display it would be find, not so sure about something to a actually run especially on a bigger engine.

I'm really like'n this new blower, and what it will do.
I'm looking at making a blower for my big furnace. The 5 gallon shop vac isn't quite enough. It takes an hour to melt 50 pounds of bronze in a # 30 crucible.

A blower I built years ago from sheet metal has an 8 inch impeller about 2 inches wide. Turning at 3600 RPM it doesn't equal the shop vac in pressure or output.

I can buy all sizes of impellers, and blowers, up in Mexico City, cast in aluminum. (It is a treat to see all that is available for foundries up there. It's foundry paradise.) I'm thinking if I bought a 12 inch impeller and turned it a 3600 it would do the job.

Any suggestions?

I'm pretty happy with the bounce house blower that I put on my furnace, one thing is that with a home made housing you may not get all the air that the impeller can move housing design has a lot to do with what the blower will be capable of.

You could always find a bigger Shop Vac and pull the blower out of it which will give you more air then if you leave it in the Vacuum housing.

one thing going for the bounce house blower is that they are designed to move a lot of air, mine has a 4 inch outlet.

I was trying to find your ebay link for the blower, there are so many different types. What wattage is yours? I couldn't believe the range in cost and power. I still have to save up for it, I can't even pick up the game controller at wally world yet.

I'm about ready to run a dozer over my computers and internet crap, seems like all the crap does is mess with me.

Here's a link to a blower similar to mine,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-Bounce ... 418638ee4a

I watched the acution until I found one that only had one of two bids on it and ws about to end and lucked out and won it for I think 35 dollars, plus the shipping. you just have to keep watching.

The Xbox controller you should be able to find on at a swap meet or pawn shop for a couple dollars, especially an original one which will work. if you want I can look in the thrift stores and pawn shops here.

I've got to get some other stuff around before I'll need a blower. Still have to get electric to the garage. I've got plenty of pawn shops and Goodwill stores, I'm keeping an eye out for controllers. I'll probably just pick up a cool blue one like yours.
