if the parts that you are casting will support it why not just use thinner flask for less sand in the say drag side, if the match plate is one sided???

I guess it is just the way I have worked out my molding David. By using the squeeze I can lightly ram the first bit of sand, add a little more and drop the block in. The squeeze finishes up the compaction and the block supports the sand that would just fall out when opening to remove the pattern if it was in say a 2" flask, it just saves me all around. This took a 15" flask from 30 minutes to mold down to 10 or 15.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints the sinners are much more fun...
