Re: Two More Months
Did my first pour last night after my summer break, I made two new flasks and wanted to give them a try the cope is 2 inches deeper and has better suport and I can get a bit more head psi they seem to work good, Ill get some pics next pour.

Re: Two More Months
It's hard to get a balance between flimsy lightweight flasks and the advantage of a larger, but much heavier flask. To get head pressure, I've gone with an extension on top of the flask. Maybe an additional 3"+ greensand tube for the sprue and riser. It works but sometime has leaks.
Re: Two More Months
A tin can works great for head pressure.

Here we are doing the pour!

This is what fell out of the flask after the pour.
(most will know a bit about this object! )

That's the way I do mine. I thought about making a permanent one with refractory, but if the metal sticks just once, it's done.

I do have some sections of 3inch exhaust tube I have 3 in sections and some 5 in sections I use for raisers also depending on the part but I did also need some taller flasks on a few of my parts with the 5 in raiser I would blow them out. Two of my old ones on the pour bench.
