I recently saw a video where they were 3D printing full sized boats, say 18 feet long.
I would like to make a model boat out of wood, but don't really have the time or the skill to do that.
I saw a few photos of an old trawler, and a model of the same boat.
I am thinking that if I could get a scan of a platic model, I could slice the 3D model into 14 inch long sections, and then 3D print those.
The hull would be about 14 inches wide.
Surely someone has tried this in the model boat world.
(Note: these are not my photos. I don't have a source.)
I would print the hull in multiple pieces, and then separately print the superstructure.

Assuming this is a legitimate site, then someone had the same thought I had.

Alternately, a 3D scan could be sectioned at each frame, and the frames 3D printed one at a time, with the frames then mounted on a backboard, and the planking applied.
Ideally the planking would be 3D printed to the exact size and curvature.

It really wouldnt be that hard to make one from wood tbh. I think 3d printing it would be a pretty bad idea, especially considering how water tight 3d prints usually are, lol. You may end up with a submarine ship rather than a boat.

What about 3D printing the frames only ?
