Your dog looks like one we had when I was a child, except ours was black. Same ears and eyes, she lived a long time, like 13 years. Your project is coming along. What is the big web belt for? Those are all over here in antique shops. Kind of expensive though.

the flat belt pulley? it has a flat belt that drives it, shaper still has the original three position flat belt pulley on it I want one that has a single flat so that there isn't so much sticking out the side. if it wasn't such a pain I would stick a 2 groove vee sheave on the other side and turn the transmission around and run it that way but with a gas engine on it it would be running backwards.

yea I got a good picture of him today I will post tonight. along with photos of todays pour which went excellent so far. starting to believe I got a good part, I know I got it hot enough to fry bacon.

here's what I started the day out with by casting this nut in Cast Iron, from the looks of it I got a solid casting
total melt time was 35 minutes.

got back to work on the flat belt pattern this morning and almost screwed up big time, started to install the gussets in the deep side when it hit me between the eye's like a BB from my big brothers Daisy that I had not cut any draft in that side so I stopped on the gussets and got back to work on the main part of what will be the hub.

And heres the part that I cast yesterday, all threaded and installed I bet no one can see the slag inclusion thats hiding in there with the threads it sure looks better then the chewed up one that was on there.

Looks great Dave, and I Carnot see no slag inclusion.....When you say horny toad, is it a toad with horns or a toad thats a mad rooter ( root is slang for sex in this part of the forest  )

I cut into the slag inclusion when I was threading the bore, broke the tip off the insert which I have very few of.

this have spike horns on them most of the time you don't really see them, but they eat a lot of bugs, but what with all the poisons that they use nowdays I haven't seen one in a while around here, they like the lonely desert.

where I stopped at today, seemed like every time I turned around today I was having to go two steps back to make any headway on this pattern I started to put the gussets in it and realized in time that I hadn't cut any draft on the inside of the rim, frustrating but I did get this far along with cooking up some BBQ for me and the neighbor.
