Re: Cincinnati Shaper
It finally quit raining here for a while, might rain tomorrow. I've been moving stuff up from the locker, stopped and casted a bunch of sinkers yesterday. It's been in the high 80's, been a pretty cool summer. If I want it to rain, all I have to do is plan a fishing trip.
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I made a couple of them a few years ago for a buffing machine with Babbitt bearings. I used hard plastic tubing one inch in diameter. I made the top and bottom from 1/4 inch aluminum that I cut the grooves in with a hole saw and then ground them off round. The oil flow is erratic but they look good.I remember you telling me about the drip oilers. Sounds like a casting project if we could find the glass tube.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
tried to melt some cast iron today reached melt temp but wasn't able to get that little bit extra so that the stuff would pour like water so the foundry is down till I can put in a new wall to replace what melted last week.
Hopefully I will be able to keep you guys entertained with some of the other things I am trying to do like reposition the drive on the shaper into a smaller package.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Rig yourself up a connection from a compressor to your fuel/air injection chamber, then add to that a higher volume regulator. When you need the added "umph" open up the compressor line, increase the gas, keep your blower running it's full capability. You can sustain steel melting temps (not just cast iron) that way. If your furnace wall is melting, I got a fix for that, too, as long as you've lined it with 3000 degree castable refractory. I can get it to withstand 5000 degrees without blemish but it would take a full rebuild of your furnace lining using the 3000 degree castable refractory plus some secrete additives I stumbled across.
