When are you going to get the glass tubes? Do they have 1/2" tube about a foot long to use as a gauge on the waste oil tank?

Jammer, I really don't know, you know how it is when money's tight the hobbies are the first to take a hit. But I may be able to squeeze a few quarters out of the shop monsters grocery fund and order them after I get paid again.

Here's a link to the site that I want to order from. and yes they have sight glass tubes.

Dayum... wish I'd have known you'd need this several months back. I did a hazmat survey of an abandoned power plant in Sitka, AK. There was a power plant there that had a crap load of industrial equipment you'd have loved to pic through, among which there were countless glass tube view tubes involving oils, solvents, etc., of practically every size imaginable. The power plant was built back in the 30's.

Y'all need to create a thread category titled... "Wish List", so these kinda requests can be put to the cosmos and those of us remembering it can look for what ya need when we go about our work-a-day routines. I seriously find a shit load of cool stuff y'all could utilize. Just pay shipping. What I find is free for the taking. These are pre-demolition surveys I perform. ;) Still, we all encounter stuff in our daily lives someone could use... all it takes is know'n it and securing it for whomever is willing to pay the shipping.

here's the second of the two oilers I just finished silver soldering the bottom on to the stem and used a piece of 2 inch od stainless tube to do the mock up with, I still have a couple of steps to do plus make the two nuts that go on top of the stems. And before I forget buy the glass tubes so they will look pretty.

in an effort to improve the performance of my burner I decided to put in a heating element in the tank to heat the oil with, I guess you could say that this is part of the shaper build as I will use it to cast the new ratchet pattern that I am in the process of making in between posting on here and chasing the dog.

element is a standard 110 volt hot water tank 1500 watt element and I will be using the W/T controller to control temp, no sense in going all tecno on this, use whats available right.

a while back I made an oil tank to hold the used motor oil that I use for burner fuel when melting cast iron,

Yesterday I picked up and heating element for an electric hot water heater and thermostat to put in it.

Last night I turned a boss too weld into the tank so I could install the element in it, but I wasn't real happy with the way it turned out. So this morning I made a new one.

The boss in the lathe. Pretty simple job, bore it out and cut a 11 pitch thread, and recess for the square rubber gasket.

With the element waiting for it to warm up so I can empty the oil from the tank and then cut a hole and weld in the boss,
