I'm trying to put it together right but things move sorta slow when you on a budget like mine.

The ball screw is my own fault for not checking thing closer, I converted the mm to inches and didn't look at it being total length and not the thread length.

The good thing it that the Screw I won't be using is the shortest one of the three as I will be able to cut the middle one down to use on the Z Axis, plus the one that I'm ordered to fix this mess comes also with the supports so that actually I'm only going to be adding about 60 dollars to the total cost of the thing as I need two sets of supports and they are like 45 dollars a set.

got in my order of the replacement ball screw this morning hopefully it will be here before the middle of may. just have to wait and see. still need to order one set of flange supports to replace the ones on the screw I ordered this morning which will get used on the X Axis.

trying to get MAch 3 to comunicate with the stepper drivers, only good news is that I haven't smelt the smell of burning electrical components yet.

I have the pattern that SVSeeker cut for my on his router ready to cast but the weather is suppose to be nasty for a couple of days, so I'm holding off on trying to cast it.

worked on the Y and Z axis today, had to remake a couple parts but was able to get both of the mounting blocks for the ball screw nuts mounted, one little hiccup being that I had to shim the Z axis plate out about and 1/8 of an inch so that it would clear the mounting block, so I'm going to have to find something that I can glue the shim to the plate or have them tack welded but I may be able to just use loctite once I know everything works.

and I was able to get two of the drivers to actually spin the motor that you see buried in the mess on the table, don't know whats wrong with the one for the Z Axis, yet.

So the day wasn't a total lost, I had hoped to cast the clamp handle pattern but it was acting like it was going to rain most of the day. So maybe tomorrow.

played with the wires somemore tonight and was able to get all three motors running without letting any smoke out. SO one big step closer to having a working router.

Are you going to cut steel with this? Aluminum? Wood patterns, I assume...

I may do some engraving with it, BUT its main purpose is to cut patterns for metal casting and just to see if I could actually make one from scratch. So far I'm way over budget for what I set as the max I wanted to spend on it, but I also knew that it was going to cost me more then the 500 dollar amount that I set as a max.

as I mentioned in an edit to last nights post I was finally able to get all three motors to run, still a couple things that I'm not understanding and with no Documentation I'll have to try to find the answers online which isn't as easy as a person would think it would be.

got in a bit of casting today, this is a pattern that I dreamed up using bobcad to draw it with and SVSeeker cutout with his CNC Router for me. its a clamp handle for the top of the shaper but its a little small may have to look at scaling it up a little specially the boss on the end that gets a 7/8 coarse thread in it.

been fighting with the electrical stuff today, actually I've been trying to get the damn stuff to work, something happened when I tried to hookup the computer that I actually want to use and thing went downhill from there. I now have one driver that the power light doesn't come light up on.

Even went so far as to completely rewire ever thing which did no good except take up time.

looks like I may get to order up some more stuff from china.

That electronic stuff drives me crazy. I just keep trying stuff until it works, I don't know why it started working so next time I have to do it all again. :x
