this weekend will be fine, the router isn't ready to use yet anyway, I'm having to wait on a ball screw to arrive from china.

here is a photo that I got off of ebay of the breakout board, I wired mine like this.
breakout-board.jpg
will have to unscrew the board to see if there is anything on the backside, but I don't think that there is. pulled the board and theres no markings our any components on the back side of the breakout board

I hooked the -5 volts up as shown in the photo, I'm actually going to do away with the powersupply that I'm using for 5 volts and use one of the USB ports for it.

One of the problems I had when all of this started was the Phone Charger I was using for the 5 Volts screwed up and the voltage from it dropped to 2.5 volts so I switched to a different one that used to power an External Hard Drive enclouser.

I have basically a DB25 socket with terminals that I used to hook up to the drivers with, but they are doing some really weired stuff like two motors trying to run at the same time.

I will open up one of the drivers and take a photo of it, but I'm going to warn you the boards are covered in surface mount stuff. I've found some that I plan to buy for spares (never knowing when china stuff will crap out) to have on hand that are old style components that a normal person can change it they blow.

here's a link to the drivers I have

I think the links you have provided will be enough. I will look those over. The power supply I was referring to in the previous post is the 36V. Is the V- attached to ground or is it floating?

OK just finished rewiring the motors with some 22 gauge 4 conductor shielded cable I found at HD and got rid of the patch cord cables I had made. have real stranded cable on them now.

PLUS cut the end off of a USB cable and used that for my 5 volt supply.

Guess what all three motors are running like they are suppose to.

I don't know what fixed it just glad that its working (or was) haven't turned it back on yet. but it sure was a good feeling to hear all three motors running normally.

thanks Mike, it was still working last night when I unplugged all of it and stuck it back on the shelf till I get the frame finished up, trying to mount some of the limit switches today.

was informed by email that the screw that I had ordered has been shipped so we're hopefully getting close to this thing doing something besides eat money and take up space, (hell that makes it sound like Charlie the shop monster)

Ok here's a couple snaps of what I been playing with today, LIMIT Switches,

First photo is of one of the switches I set up for the X Axis
limit-switches-02.jpg
Second photo is of the Y Axis switches I figured that I might as well get both of them close together to cut down on cable clutter, (after chasing portable asphalt plants for 20 years I hate cable clutter). This with both the Y and Z axis on the slide I won't have a bunch of loose wires roaming around.

got in a little work on the shaper today after running in to Home Depot for some shielded cable for use on the limit switches which messed up most of the day. I now have all 6 of the limit switches mounted. I also bore out a piece of 3/4 inch aluminum flat bar to make a bearing holder for the Tail end of the Y Axis ball screw, it still needs a groove for a retaining ring.

here are a couple of photos that I took the yesterday of the new clamp handle that I made for the shaper
new-clamp-handle-on--shaper.jpg
and one of the leadscrew support that I casted I don't know how many of before finally getting one that I could machine. still a couple of things to do to it, one is that I need to drill and thread a hole for a thumb screw to be used as a lock to stop the knurled part from turning when the shaper is running.
