got in a little time on the router today, also went and visited with DBINOKC this afternoon and checked out his home built router and other projects that he has on the stove top.

Anyway heres a photo of the foam that I chewed up tonight after redoing some of the calibrations.
Its just a hunk of foam that I had been hacking on that was laying around that I grabbed to run a cut test on.

and I want to say thanks to DB for inviting me down to his shop

went and seen the saw bones this morning which really cut deep into my playing time. also went by the tool supply and found me a supply of 1/8 inch round nose carbide endmills that will work in the router for the princely sum of 2.50 each so I grabbed four of them and a 1/16 inch endmill so I could do a job for my brother.

anyway the part my brother is a motor mount for one of his foam RC Planes it needs to be cut out of some 1/16 inch birch plywood which hes going to snail mail to me.

this is what the part looks like, played hell with it till I drew it up in Inches instead of MM, its only about 1.75 inches in diameter and gets 8 more holes in it, I didn't feel like doing all the code for the holes was trying to see if I would end up with a round part, it looks pretty good, but also needs some tweaking.

There are wizards in the Mach 3 program. A couple of them are for bolt patterns. There is also a learning wizard that will keep a g-code for a path you have your machine run.

the hole patterns aren't a problem, the cad program that I was using will do the patterns I just didn't want to do the tool paths for them.
this is the part that I was doing for my brother

I'll have to look DA, I think it got updated when my computer crashed and I had to reload it. They are testing a Mach 4, it's not going to be a free upgrade, I guess the basic program is totally different. I don't know, I'm just getting used to Mach 3.

thanks Jammer, I'm trying to learn how to do it all you know the code thing and how to make the router actually work. played with it some today off and on along with trying to draw up a couple parts and create some code. I have bobcad which I got pretty good at drawing thing with but haven't had any reason to actually do the code thing till now.

I found this laying on the front porch today from the brown truck, I ordered one a while back from Surplus Center but it wouldn't run, called em up and they sent me out a replacement, I'm hoping to take the two plates that I had cut a couple months ago and make a housing for it and hopefully it will put out a ton of air.

still playing with the router, here is a shot of a part that I was ask by my brother if I could cut it on the router. its a little out of round from what I can measure about 10 to 15 thousands. But it should work for him, its a motor mount for an RC Plane motor, its actually suppose te be made from 1/16 inch Ply but 1/4 was all that I had.

THIS WAS JUST A TEST to see if I had the code right, now when I get the right plywood I'll have to go back in an change the depth of cut from .260 to something like .065. Sure was good to see the machine actually making something.

I ran it for a while yesterday on a part that I had drawn up last fall which some day I hope to use as a valve chest on a steam engine, but it was taking a long time to cut the part as the biggest bit I can use at the moment is 1/8 inch.

Mike its not really a project, its more like what my life is like from one day to the next. I'm hoping to get the code thing sorted so I can get to making patterns as I want to get back to casting metal, hopefully cast iron if the blower I received yesterday will put out enough air. if now guess I'll have to route one out and cast it.

This is a free program that I have been using to make simple parts and signs. The newer version is great, you can download a DXF or other files to generate a code. The new clean up program seems to be working pretty well. You can find some other fonts on line and load them in the font file.
