Mike the wood worked great, I'm going to do the heat treat tomorrow hopefully if my coffee drinking buddy shows up for fire control.
I have the scales shaped so they fit my hand more then looking pretty, wish I had a ready source of the wood to make patterns with from what I've seen with just this little bit it would cut great on the router.
Now to make up my mind if I'm going to try and fixt this new laptop or use it and windows 8 for target practice.

Looks pretty nice Dave, it should do some damage. Looking at the weather, it looks like you could set it out in the sun to heat treat the next day or so.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Just say if you want some more Dave, no problem to post it over to you..... I put some on my mill awhile back and it worked greatdallen wrote:Mike the wood worked great, I'm going to do the heat treat tomorrow hopefully if my coffee drinking buddy shows up for fire control.

Mike I can probably buy the wood here for less then what it would cost to mail the stuff from downunder. But I do appreciate the offer.mite5255 wrote:Just say if you want some more Dave, no problem to post it over to you..... I put some on my mill awhile back and it worked great
Here's a little better photo, not sure if I'll get to the heat treating today or not, have a guy that needs a part turned up for his tractor which will take a day or two to make.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Be careful with it. I was making a cookie cutter from an old circular saw blade to cut disks from sheets of sandpaper. I annealed it, cut it, welded it into a circle, heated it red hot, quenched it . . . and then like an ass I dropped it on the concrete floor and broke a big chunk out of it. That stuff is brittle before you temper it.

I like that design... looks tough as the hubs of hell. I've dabbled in make'n knives before. Only pic I have to share of any is this one which shows a matched set I made, one caping knife, one fillet knife, and one defense/brush cutter knife I kept sheathed off the side of my backpack.
