I have been using Photobucket for posting photos i don't really care how long they last. You are right. They sure junked it up.

For photos that I want to remain on a forum, I use my own server, the one I get with my DSL internet service which comes with a good bit of free server space for hosting a web site. I use it instead as my personal Photobucket and link to that.

Way I'm looking at PB is that they are wanting you to pay .99 cents a month to not have to dicker with the ads, which seems to be whats throwing the preverbal monkey wrench in the fire.

guess I could look into how much room Cox gives me, plus I think for each email address I get so much room also.

Slimmed the forearm down some today,

give you guys something to look at while waiting for the effects of thankgiving dinner to wear off

just so people don't start thinking I've parked this project in the closet, here's some photo's of a little progress.

Drilling forearm for insert
Image

First is the brass insert and screw (which I get to do over because of missing the centerline) with the forearm on the barrel, insert was left standing proud so I could profile it down to the wood so that there will be no offsets between the two
Image

wider shot of the forearm, I've whittled a lot of the fat that used to be on the forearm off
Image

New Finger Lever fitted, have been filing and sanding on it for a couple days now.
Image

Shop monster, he likes to have his mug snapped
Image

guess that's all the photos for today, as can be seen in the photo's I trimmed a lot of the wood off the bottom of the forearm, I also trimmed the sides in but still need to take somemore off of one side (probably do both with a guide laid on the barrel to get then even), plus I also need to taper the back end of it in towards the receiver in a uniform taper around the receiver. Anyway its about as small as I can go with it due to the barrel profile.

I have a ton of sanding, filing still to do, the boring stuff that no one wants to do or hear about.

I'm still working on the tang sight, have a guy that's helping me out with some of the more tricky machine work that has to be done on a couple of the parts, will post photo's when there has been some progress on that part of this project.

Ever one have a Happy and SAFE holiday and don't eat too much turkey.

Anyway got in some work on the sight base this evening, after taking the shop monster to Walmart and letting him rampage thru the pet section for a little while till they ran us out.

First up is where I profiled the material I was going to make it out of to fit the radius of the action
Image

second photo is the base sorta finished still needs a bunch of hand work.

And third is the base with a messed up main frame stuck in it.

Still a bunch of work to do on the sight, I think it will make the whole rifle look a heck of a lot better then if it just had iron sights, and I don't want to stick some modern type scope on it.

I want to smelt iron and copper in my backyard just like they did in the bronze and iron age, but the wife is resisting the temptation to give me her ok  , I will admit tho that has never stopped me in the past  . Hang on minute I wonder if that's why I sometimes have issues with neighbors

There's a group of guys smelting Iron on the East coast, North and South Carolina, Virginia and some in Eastern Tennessee. I've got some stuff around to do a smelt but I'll have to wait til spring. I've been hauling around about 70 pounds of ore for the last 3 years.

sounds like you need to start breaking it down into smaller bits if you plan to smelt it. you going to use coke or charcoal?, coke should be pretty easy to find in your area.
